EverQuest Communication 101

 By Sylvene Firebrand

You’ve just bought this game.  After reading through guides and scanning different websites, have finally made a character and you are entering this brave new world for the first time.  You see auctions and out of character text… and are overwhelmed by many sentences filled with acronyms.  Just what do these mean?  In a world of text communication, we human beings tend to shorten commonly used words in an effort to communicate faster.  However, there is what is known as “dewd speak” which is often heavily looked down upon, and then there are acronyms.  As you play this game, you will learn acronyms for most in-game terms.

To ease your passage in this game, here is a short list of commonly used terms you might see when journeying in the world known as Norrath.  You will find that most zone names are shortened and some terms and acronyms can be specific to your server.
